Just 30 Minutes From the Digby Ferry!

All Aboard The New Digby Ferry

Bayside is about 30 minutes from the ferry terminal in Digby, Nova Scotia. You can board the ferry, the Fundy Rose, in St. John, New Brunswick, and arrive in Digby in just over two hours. No more tedious driving on busy highways that cut into your valuable vacation time. It’s a pleasant trip, the staff courteous, and the ferry clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. The Bay Ferries, Fundy Rose, leaves nearby Digby twice a day during the summer and early fall and once a day during in the late fall, winter and spring periods.

The Fundy Rose replaced the much beloved, yet aging Princess of Acadia on July 28th, 2015. The old ferry made her last voyage the day before. The Fundy Rose is a roll-on, roll-off, passenger ship built in 2000. The $44M ship is 124 metres in length and 19 metres in breadth, with a cruising speed of 20 knots. It has all of the modern onboard amenities and segregated car and vehicle decks. It seems the perfect fit for the Digby/St. John service.

The name of the new ferry reflects the world-renowned Bay of Fundy that the ship crosses every day. The second part of the name reflects, Rose Fortune, a woman born into slavery who developed a successful business transporting luggage from the ferry docks to hotels and homes in nearby Annapolis Royal. Rose Fortune also became known as the first female police officer in Canada – an unofficial title she earned by maintaining order and safeguarding property at the town’s wharves.
